This page has changed so we may help you in the
transition to the Pyramid.Net servers. If you need to access the old
information, please Click Here.
As
most of you are aware already – Pyramid.Net has taken over Autumn Internet
and there is an ongoing transition from their system infrastructure to our
own. As part of this migration
- we will soon be moving email domains from the Autumn Internet mail server
to the Pyramid.Net mail server. During
this transition NO MAIL should be lost.
Because
of the way that the Internet works there is a certain delay time for the
Internet to see certain changes. The
changes in this case being propagation of mail server addresses from their
system to our own.
But
we do have a system that will allow you to receive all your email as it
comes in and allow you to send during the transition.
1.
After the server change, mail will still go to the old server from
one to seven days. To receive
this mail, you will not have to make any changes to your system.
2.
To receive new mail coming into the new mail server, please use the
Pyramid.net web interfaces. Exactly
when this will happen depends both on how soon the combined staff gets your
mail account/domain moved to the new server and the speed of the propagation
effects once things are changed. You
will notice a decline then complete lack of new email coming into the old
server. During this
transitional period will be when you will need to use our web email
interface.
Instructions
for doing this are given below:
Open
your browser and in the address bar type in http://mail.yourdomain.com:8888/
and log in with your username and password. For the domain use the end part
of your email address.
Example
bob@aies.net would go to http://mail.aies.net:8888/ and bob@autumnix.com
would go to http://mail.autumnix.com:8888/
Receive
email through this interface during the transition.
You can compose replies, etc. through this method.
3.
When new mail completely stops arriving at your old account - change the
mail server names from the old (incoming: pop3.aies.net, outgoing:
smtp.aies.net as an example) to the new name (same example – mail.aies.net
– this applies to both SMTP (send) and POP3 (receive))
Look
below for these intructions.
Please
note that not all email domains will move at the same time.
We begin with the smaller domains first and the main domains (aies.net
and
autumnix.com) will be the
last ones to be done. We will post a message on the Autumn Internet web site
(www.aies.net) when we have initiated the main domain changes.
Instructions for changing Mail Server names.
Your mail server name for both incoming and outgoing will change to
mail.yourdomain.com Example for bob@aies.net
the new name will be mail.aies.net and f or bob@autumnix.com
it would be mail.autumnix.com.
To change these settings in Outlook Express, with the program open, on
the Menu Bar go to Tools, then Accounts. You go to the tab marked Mail, find
your email account and double-click it to bring up the Properties. Go
to the tab marked Servers, and in the text fields for incoming and outgoing
mail servers change them to mail.your.domain (ie, mail.aies.net,
mail.autumnix.com, etc)
In Microsoft Outlook 97, it will be Tools, then Services and then
Internet Mail. (some versions of Outlook 97 do have accounts) Outlook
2000 is similar to Outlook Express. In Outlook XP, it is Tools, Email
Accounts, then View or Change accounts.
For Netscape 4.X users go to Edit, then Preferences. Display the
Mail and News Servers dialog page. Change the smtp server at the
bottom and in the upper right quadrant, click on the mail server then
edit. Netscape 7.X call.
